Coach Hilbe is a former head varsity coach and creator of the Travis Lacrosse Club, program director of Richmond Grizzly youth program, and 2019 winner of the TXLOA Houston Sam Chambers Sportsmanship Award!
The Texas Lacrosse Officials Association (TXLOA) is honored to name its sportsmanship and coaching excellence award after Coach Sam Chambers of St. John's School. This honor will be awarded annually by vote of TXLOA officials to a deserving lacrosse coach in Texas who has exhibited the highest standards of sportsmanship and coaching excellence both on and off the field and whose players have honored the sport of lacrosse by playing the game with the same highest standards of sportsmanship.
As a high school player at Strake Jesuit Coach Hilbe was two year lettermen at Strake Jesuit. Junior (2009) year finished 3rd in state. Senior (2010) year finished 5th in state. Coach Hilbe went on to serve as a club board member and player with the University Of Houston Mens MCLA team where he was voted Team Captain and awarded All Conference Defender. Since then, Coach Hilbe has also assisted with the Strake Jesuit HS team, George Ranch HS team, U of H women’s team, started the Saint Arnold Brewing Lacrosse Club, and created the Odyssey Lacrosse Men’s & Women's league with over 160 participants city wide.
